TRAVEL INFORMATION

Flight Options

You're going to be looking for flights to one of these three airports

1. Vigo, Spain (VGO)

This option gets you all the way to Vigo and you would be able to taxi to the hotel (No car rental or further travel needed). Vigo is a small airport so you probably won't find a direct flight from outside of Spain. You will likely have a connection in Madrid.

  • Recommended Airline: Iberia/American Airlines

  • Example Routing:  Home airport - Madrid - Vigo - Taxi to Hotel/Lodging

  • Travel option: Spend a few days before or after the wedding in Madrid.

2. Porto, Portugal (OPO) or Lisbon (LIS) - Portugal is one time zone/hour ahead of Spain

The region of Galicia is just to the north of Portugal, meaning that both Porto and Lisbon are options as well. Both require ground transportation to get to Vigo. From Porto to Vigo it's a 90 minute drive. The only reason to stop in Lisbon without connecting on to Porto is if you're going to be renting a car anyway, and  want to skip the one hour flight from Lisbon to Portugal. This option means a four and a half hour drive from Lisbon to Vigo.

  • Recommended Airline: TAP Air Portugal

  • Example Routing:  Home airport - Lisbon - Porto - Drive/Bus/Train to Vigo

  • Travel option: Spend time in Lisbon (the capital of Portugal), then drive up the coast to Vigo. Or, spend a couple days checking out the port wine region of Portugal, Porto.

3. Santiago de Compostela (SCQ), Spain.

This option is often more expensive if you travel from the US, but it could be a great option if you come from other countries in Europe. Santiago de Compostela is about 1 hour driving from Vigo.

  • Recommended Airline: Various

  • Example Routing:  Home airport/European Airport - Santiago de Compostela - Drive/Train to Vigo

  • Travel option: Santiago de Compostela is the capital of Galicia and is famous for being the ending point of the pilgrimage El Camino de Santiago (St. Jame's Way). Spend a day or two here to see one of the most famous cities in Galicia and watch the pilgrims arriving at the cathedral to see the resting place of St. James.
